On February 1st, Montreat College and Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) established a formal transfer agreement designed to support learners seeking a bachelor's degree in Visual Communication and Experience Design.

Through this collaboration, CVCC students earning an Associate in Applied Science in Advertising and Graphic Design gain seamless entry into Montreat College's Visual Communication and Experience Design (VisComm) bachelor's program as second-year students. Montreat's curriculum covers graphic design fundamentals, digital interface development, and brand strategy to equip graduates for immersive design projects.
"We're thrilled to integrate Catawba Valley graduates into our dynamic VisComm program," shared Dr. Paul J. Maurer, Montreat College president. "This alliance strengthens our statewide network for creative professionals seeking advanced training through a well-rounded liberal arts foundation."
"Our joint initiative opens new opportunities for student advancement," added Dr. Garrett D. Hinshaw, CVCC president. "Linking associate pathways with Montreat's bachelor's offerings allows ambitious learners to expand their expertise across institutions."
Montreat College continues expanding its transfer network, recently adding agreements with Gaston College, Fayetteville Technical Community College, and Wake Technical Community College since the 2026-27 academic cycle began.
