Role Overview: Reporting directly to the Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Events spearheads strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of pivotal college events designed to enhance donor engagement, alumni connections, and institutional visibility. This pivotal position ensures every gathering embodies Montreat College’s values while fostering meaningful community participation through meticulous organization, seamless coordination, and unwavering attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and oversee advancement-focused events that deepen relationships with key stakeholders including donors, alumni, and supporters.
- Act as a central point of contact for cross-departmental initiatives, offering logistical expertise and collaborative support across campus teams.
- Curate and maintain a strategic institutional events calendar, aligning priorities and timelines with academic and administrative calendars.
- Develop comprehensive event blueprints, manage end-to-end logistics, and guide on-site operations to guarantee exceptional participant experiences.
- Oversee event finances including budget allocation, contract negotiations, vendor management, and fiscal compliance protocols.
- Collaborate with marketing professionals to craft compelling promotional narratives and visual assets that amplify event impact.
- Champion Montreat College’s Christ-centered ethos by ensuring all events uphold hospitality standards, accessibility requirements, and brand consistency.
- Proactively identify potential risks, devise contingency plans, and resolve issues swiftly to maintain operational continuity.
- Lead recruitment efforts, training programs, and performance oversight for student workers, volunteers, and temporary staff.
- Establish standardized operating procedures to drive consistent quality and continuous process improvement.
- Conduct thorough post-event evaluations, analyze attendee feedback, and propose actionable enhancements for future programming.
- Monitor success metrics including event quality benchmarks, attendance rates, and participant satisfaction scores through annual goal-setting cycles.
Supervisory Duties
Direct and mentor student employees, volunteers, and temporary personnel supporting institutional events.
Required Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
- Proven track record in event management, hospitality, or advancement sectors
- Experience orchestrating large-scale, high-profile events
- Exceptional organizational abilities with strong written/verbal communication skills

Work Context
