During his eighth-grade years, a transformative mission trip to Asheville sparked Daulton's admiration for mountainous landscapes.
“Returning home, I announced my intention to attend a college nestled in the peaks,” Beard reminisced. Initially distracted during high school in Orlando, Florida, his resolve to pursue a mountainous education resurfaced when Montreat College emerged as the perfect fit—offering both scenic beauty and athletic opportunities.
“Among all schools I explored, Montreat stood out for its mountain setting,” Beard noted. Stepping onto campus, he instantly sensed alignment with his aspirations.
The welcoming atmosphere, particularly from Sean Doman—a Queens-born basketball player—left a lasting impression. A chance gym visit solidified Beard's decision, highlighting Montreat's nurturing community.
“The genuine care shown by students and staff sealed my choice,” he shared. Mentors like Coach Jose Larios and Professor Hub Powell further inspired him through unwavering support and expertise.
Balancing academic shifts, Beard discovered his true calling in accounting despite initial doubts about Montreat's offerings. Discovering Florida State's similar program brought relief, ultimately reaffirming his commitment to Montreat.
Financial guidance from Assistant Vice President Rhonda Devan bolstered his confidence, proving invaluable during his alumni reunion meeting.

At Montreat, Beard thrived as a competitive athlete while earning recognition as NAIA Tournament's Champion of Character for his dedication.
“Coach Jones embodied excellence, and I embraced every lesson during our two seasons together,” he reflected. Graduating in 2026 with dual degrees, he transitioned to Florida State for advanced accounting studies before joining RSM US LLP in Tampa.
“Passing all four CPA exam sections on my first attempt marked a career milestone,” he celebrated. Now preparing for licensure, Beard looks forward to expanding his expertise within RSM's collaborative environment.
Maintaining ties to Montreat, he cherishes its lifelong impact—an ethos echoing across all his achievements.
“Montreat isn't just a school; it's a family legacy,” he affirmed. Its values of growth and purpose make it ideal for aspiring students seeking meaningful paths.
