Ensuring Security and Support for Students at Montreat College
John Hall Campus Safety
Montreat College maintains a secure environment through a dedicated team focused on protecting students and staff. Our campus safety division employs licensed law enforcement officers who manage both uniformed patrols and behind-the-scenes security operations across all campus properties, including adjacent areas and roadways under institutional control.
Every building and residence hall undergoes regular security assessments to maintain optimal protection standards. Residence hall entrances remain secured around the clock, with dual verification from campus police personnel and housing staff. The Black Mountain campus—including athletic facilities, academic buildings, and parking zones—is consistently monitored by specialized patrol units.
Student Resources
The Student Life Office coordinates comprehensive safety initiatives designed to empower responsible behavior among the student body. Essential safety protocols and emergency procedures are clearly outlined in the official student handbook to guide proper conduct during various scenarios.
Through collaborative efforts with local law enforcement agencies—including the Town of Montreat, Black Mountain Police Department, and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office—the college ensures rapid response capabilities for emergencies. Dialing 911 connects residents to immediate assistance from fire, medical, and police responders within minutes.
